Dear All
Chris and Emily have now started work on the new Celtic Legend album (as yet untitled) and this will be due for release in May/ June 2009 exactly two
years after the release of Lyonesse.
Both Em and Chris composed songs for the recent Mediaeval Babes album, Illumination, and two of the tracks that didn't make it on to the recording will
be featured on this new Celtic Legend release.
We'll give you updates about this new venture and possibly a sneak preview of one of the songs as a 'work in progress' over the coming weeks.
To all of you wondering about the whereabouts of the mysterious Lyonesse Cask, we apologies for the lack of information but the competition that we
organized proved to be far too complicated. We will now be be rethinking the treasure hunt for the future as this is such a beautiful object painted by
Annie Ovenden of the 'Brotherhood of ruralists' but for now the cask will keep its hidden mysteries to one day be discovered by the chosen one!

Also included is a brand new mix of the song 'Siren' which is now being previewed on our myspace page.
'Celtic Legend' fans will also be treated to a sneak peek of the new accompanying video for 'Siren' which will be previewed on Myspace + www. absolutebrighton. tv in the coming weeks, before being aired on Terrestrial + Satellite TV across the world.

Japanese release
We have just licensed Lyonesse in Japan to an amazing label called 'Village Again'. We are at present endeavoring to do more licensing deals in various other territories, thus eventually making Lyonesse much easier to purchase worldwide. Hopefully it should be available in Japan within the next couple of months. We'll keep you posted.

Taken from their new album Lyonesse and composed by Chris Payne and Emily Ovenden, the song has the haunting familiarity of a traditional English folk song and the dark text of a Classic 19th century novel. The tale of a mysterious gentleman stealing the heart and virtue of a maiden is gloriously acted out by soprano Emily and Harry. We see the two lovers play out the tragic story of their domed romance in the autumnal lushness of the English landscape and witness the destruction of an innocence maid and the ultimate downfall of the man who ruined her.
The film directed by Absolute Brighton TV Director (www.absolutebrighton.tv) and filmmaker Jai Michael explores the tale of stolen innocence, determined passion and hopeless loss.
Handsome newcomer Harry was plucked from obscurity when Director Jai Michael found himself without a leading man. “He walked into my office to ask about some work and I took one look at him and thought he was perfect?” says Jai. “He was such a natural on film that I expect he will be collecting an Oscar in a couple of years.”
With luxuriant costumes echoing a perfect period drama and skilled camera work from this up and coming team, this music video is sure to pull at the heartstrings and raise questions about the futility of lost love. As usual with Celtic Legend’s work there is a modern theme lurking beneath the lush fantasy presented by Micheal which only heightens the majesty of Payne & Ovenden’s startling music.

Well we had a great weekend filming the a new Celtic Legend video for 'Sweet Rosemary.' It should be aired on Classic FMTV before the end of the year. A big thank you to all the crew who worked so hard to make the shoot go smoothly. Chris and Emily are talking about a special downloadable EP to accompany the video, so fingers crossed there will be some new music coming soon, with a new album planned for summer 2008!

IMPORTANT INFO CONCERNING AMAZON:
It has come to our attention that some of you are very worried about the dispatch delay listed at 4-6 weeks for Lyonesse on the amazon site. We have contacted our distribuors and they have informed us that Amazon have more than enough copies to supply the demand for Lyonesse and that the delay is the standard 2-5 days only. Amazon will be updating their information next week.
Apparently they were taken by surprise due to the initial pre-sales responce and that is the reason they automatically placed the dispatch delay. But as stated we can assure all of you wishing to purchase through amazon that the delay is a matter of a few days not weeks.

Quest For The Cask Of Lyonesse
An international treasure hunt launched in celebration of
Lyonesse the breathtaking new album by Celtic Legend.
And so it begins.......
Somewhere in the music, videos, website and artwork of Celtic Legend lies the
answer that will lead you to the Cask of Lyonesse, a priceless work of art designed
and created by the award winning artist Annie Ovenden. No one knows what lies
within this ornate treasure and only a person quick of mind and imagination
will solve the riddles that lead to the cask. But beware, not all it what it
seems, a child could as easily unravel this serpentine trail, as the most mature
of minds.
We cannot give too much away, but as much as we want you to purchase Lyonesse,
it is not a pre-requisite to finding clues associated with the treasure hunt.

Message from Chris Payne
It is fast approaching the time when Lyonesse is due for official release, and I would just like to thank and aknowledge all who have been involved in the making of the album.
I have really enjoyed working and developing this CD alongside an array of very talented people who have given there all to the project.
I would just like to say special thanks to my wife Dominique who apart from contributing with some fabulous singing has been incredibly supportive and i have had a lot of fun working on the songs with her. Emily has been outstanding throughout, she has the most wonderful voice and is an amazing lyric writer and it has been a pleasure composing alongside her. Jai continues to commit himself wholeheartedly to CL, constantly thinking of new visual ideas for our videos which are essential to the future of the project. I would also pay a special mention to Katherine, Claire and Maxine from the Mediaeval Baebes, who gave there time and effort to help us out with great performances as is fitting from a group of amazingly talented girls that the Mediaeval Baebes are.
Finally, i would like to thank a very good friend of mine, Nigel Bates, who has done the most extraordinary job of mixing and mastering the recording. Apart from being one of the countries top media composers, he is an outstanding engineer and producer, and his studio in the Dordogne is the best i have ever used in all of my years of recording.
Also huge thankyou's to Pepps, Patrick, Are, Franck, Hayley, Annie and Tim for the work they have put into Lyonesse.
For those of you who are in the UK, Classic FM TV will be featuring a new version of the 'Boatman' and 'Song of tomorrow' videos, plus a close up feature with Em and myself (we've been promising them this for a year) This should be broadcast on high rotation from around the release date, so watch out for that. Also, our mysterious treasure hunt to find the Lyonesse Cask starts soon, so watch this space.
Finally, to all of you who decide to buy this recording, i really hope you get as much pleasure from listening to it, as we have had producing it.

Well, the artwork for the album is well on the way to being completed with Ruralist artist Annie Ovenden & Hayley Madden at the helm. Lyonesse is sounding amazing with the release date now set for June 18th 07. A new video will also be launched around this time which you will be able to view on this website and on Classic FMTV.

Chris and Emily are slaving away in order to get Lyonesse ready for release, which we think now will happen in June. They have been joined by hot shot sound viking Are Kolltviet in their quest for the perfect vocal recording and with mixing wizard Nigel Bates at the helm the results should be breathtaking. Other exciting news is that fellow Mediaeval Baebes, Katharine Blake, Claire Rabbitt & Maxine Fone will also be guesting on Lyonesse. Sweet Rosemary, As So The River and Soldier Boy are already sounding amazing.

We have also been informed that our video Song of Tomorrow has been short listed for an award at the Celtic Film festival to be held in Skye at the end of March (more info contact www.celticfilm.co.uk) We would like to thank the festival organisers, director Jai Michael and DOP Robin Kewell for all of the hard work he has put in to make this possible. Celtic Legend would like to pay a special tribute to John Bates who passed away earlier this week. John had been the executive producer for the first two Celtic Legend videos; 'Ysolt y'nn gweinten' and 'Song of tomorrow' and without his kind support we would never have had the opportunity to have made these wondeful films. Our thoughts are with his sons Nigel Bates (Producer and Engineer) and Barry Bates (executive Producer) and the rest of his family at this sad time.

Well, we've had a really exciting weekend shooting a new video. The shoot went really well and the rushes look amazing. One big factor in the success of this shoot is that we borrowed some beautiful dresses for Emily from Uptight Clothing. A Big Thank You to Janice for lending us her frock-tastic works of art. It's really worth checking out www.uptight-clothing.co.uk if you're in need of something special for the weekend. In fact I think Emily has already ordered her wedding dress all she needs now is a groom!

Our new video for ‘The Boatman’ which was composed by Emily and I is finally ready and will aired on Classic FM TV by mid to end October. In the meantime the Coverdrive Productions site is having a facelift and when it’s complete we’ll have our films up there for your perusal.
Also look out for us on the Classic FM close-up feature which should also be out around the same time as the new video.
Our new album Lyonesse is coming on steadily. Recordings are being done between Brighton the Dordogne and Normandy in France, we have already recorded a substantial amount and are continuing to compose. The release date has been put back to Feb. 2007 to allow us to sort out promotion etc. but in the meantime we will be bringing out an EP of our Classic FM stuff so far. This will include a new version of Ysolt y’nn Gweinten a remixed version of Song of Tomorrow and The Boatman plus Peppers Siren mix which is based on Song of tomorrow. We have also made a film of this and we are also in the middle of filming another ‘epic’ called Soldier Boy. Director Jai is again at the helm and we will hopefully have this film and track ready for Christmas. Unfortunately it won’t be ready for the EP but after all, we can’t give too much away or you won’t buy the Lyonesse album will you?
The Lyonesse Cask is nearly finished and will feature in Soldier Boy video. This is a beautiful medieval cask that has been painted by one of the great artists of our time, Annie Ovenden, and will be displayed at Cork Street Galleries in October. We are offering this unique object as a prize to a treasure hunt we have put together for a bit of fun. We will be giving out more precise details on the site very soon. So please check back regularly for information. We’ll have some pictures of the cask put up very shortly. I have seen it and touched it (naughty me) and it really is the most beautiful work of art. The person who wins this will be a very lucky person indeed.
The EP called The Boatman will be available online and at itunes at the end of October.
